JUNIOR MEETING
The counseling team met with the junior class to discuss preparations for senior year and post-secondary planning. Some of the topics covered were the college application process (typically begins in August), college admission testing, and the decision process.
We highly recommend students do some college research online over the summer to determine what is needed for each school's application. If a chosen school requires an essay for their application, it is strongly encouraged that students work on those essays over the summer so they are ready to go when they apply. For more detailed information, visit the smore Junior Spring Meeting.

CAREER EXPLORATION
During the month of November students in grades 9 through 11 had opportunities to explore careers on Xello with the counselors. The goal of the students' time on Xello was to provide self-awareness of interests and skills through assessments connecting them to potential careers. Students can access Xello anytime. There is a bookmark on their district provided chromebook. We are hoping opportunities for awareness and exploration supports their career decision making in the future and supports their post-secondary educational planning as well. There is more information and resources regarding careers planning and decision making here.

RAHCC looking for volunteers
The Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) Youth Action Council is looking for middle and high school students to volunteer for community events all year long. Students will gain leadership skills, earn community service hours and help make a difference. The RAHCC supports mental health, builds awareness about substance misuse, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through programming in the schools and throughout the community. The Coalition also awards a scholarship to deserving students. If interested, please send an email with your name, grade (in the fall) and school to: Mrs. Schurman, Community Outreach Coordinator for Rochester Community Schools.
