device deployment
Next year the College Board SAT Suite of Assessments is going to be transitioning to a digital format. This means that all students will complete these assessments on their district-issued Chromebook. We will be continuing to send out updates to ensure that all of our students are prepared for this transition. However, we wanted to bring attention to the Rochester Community Schools Device Deployment that will be occurring on Tuesday, August 15th (6:00am-4:00pm). This will occur at the RCS Administration Building – 52585 Dequindre Rd, Rochester.
All 9th grade students should attend the deployment date as we will be refreshing your device with a new one. Students in 8th, 10th and 11th grade who have a device that is not in working order based on the checklist within the attachment, should also attend. Please bring your current Chromebook and charger to the device deployment.
If you have any questions about the Device Deployment please do not hesitate to contact the RCS Technology Department at (248)726-3099.

senior photos class of 2024
psat schedule - october 12th
All seniors must get their YEARBOOK PHOTO taken through Prestige Portraits. This service is free of charge to every single student. This procedure is not only equitable for ALL students, it streamlines the process for parents, students, and the yearbook advisor. In addition, ALL students in the class of 2024 will be included on the class composite as a result of using Prestige.
There is a NEW PROCESS this year for senior pictures. All yearbook and composite photos will be taken August 16-18 at North Hill Elementary School (due to summer renovations at Stoney Creek). Students will be auto-scheduled for the their appointments on one of those three dates between the hours of 8am and 4pm. Prestige Portraits has emailed the link to your appointment. Students/guardians can verify yearbook SENIOR PICTURE appointment times here. Please search by city, state, school, and student name.
During the in-school photography days, students will be photographed in one outfit for the yearbook and composite photo. They will take the formal head and shoulder poses, plus a few additional poses on another background. If you would like your student to be photographed in additional outfits, or if they are unable to make it one of those days, you can schedule an appointment at one of Prestige’s studios by visiting www.prestigeportraits.com/studio or calling 517-349-1703 to set up an appointment. The closest studio to Rochester is the Shelby Township studio. The deadline to be photographed outside of our scheduled on-site dates is October 14, 2023. Due to yearbook printing deadlines, any student that does not meet that deadline will not be included in the senior section of the yearbook.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Millard at [email protected].

homecoming
Homecoming is September 15th and 16th! Throughout the week of Homecoming we have an annual Spirit Week, with Friday being our class color competition. Student Council is selling Homecoming t-shirts for each grade to purchase in their respective theme logos/colors. These shirts are then worn by students on Friday, the day of our Homecoming Assembly. Purchasing a t-shirt is not a requirement for students, and there are many other ways students are able to still participate in Homecoming activities. We are offering online sales for a limited time at a discounted rate of $12. In order to ensure on-time delivery, the online store must close August 22nd at 12:00PM. We will have a limited number of shirts available for purchase during all three lunches the week of Homecoming for $15. Ordering your student’s shirt online will ensure that all students who want a shirt will have one as we will not be able to guarantee sizes and availability for in-person sales the week of Homecoming.
The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday in the Main Gym from 7-10PM. Information on tickets and guest passes will be available soon. If you have any questions regarding t-shirt orders please e-mail Katie Antrup, Student Council Advisor.

work permits
We are seeing an influx of students needing work permits as we get closer to summer break. Students can obtain a work permit in the counseling office as well as in the vestibule outside of the main office. Make sure to choose the appropriate form (there is a form for UNDER 16 and a separate form for 16 & 17 year olds).
Complete Section I, have your employer complete Section II, then bring back to SCHS to be completed (if a parent is bringing the form for their student, we will need a photo ID of the student in order to complete the work permit). Work permits are completed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
