Charity Week
Stoney Creek Charity Week 2023 March 6th-11th
Charity: Henry Ford Transplant Center for Living Donations
Every year Student Councils across RCS dedicate an entire week to raise money for charity. Since 2018 Stoney Creek, Rochester, and Rochester Adams have combined their fundraising efforts to support one charity in their combined “Tri-High Charity Week”. This year all money donated will be going to Henry Ford Transplant Center for Living Donations. We have a lot of great events planned throughout the week to help students get involved in raising money for this great cause. If you’d like to donate online or have extended family who would like to help us reach our fundraising goals an online donation link can be found here: https://tce.me/ijl9Jt.
All week long events:
We are offering a free Kona Ice day for the grade level that participates the most during the week and earns the most Cougar Credits. Every dollar raised will equal one Cougar Credit for that grade level. Student Council will then pay for every student in the winning grade to have one free Kona Ice on a designated day in April, the truck will not be available to any other grade level.
Passports: Passports can be purchased for $35 at lunch starting February 28th. The passport includes entrance into the Pancake Breakfast, entrance into the 6th hour Dodgeball Tournament/Ice Cream Social, a duck for the annual Duck Race, a Charity Week t-shirt, and six raffle tickets. A $43 value for $35!
Spirit Days: Student Council will be coming around to do dress counts at the start of 1st hour. Each student dressed up will count as one Cougar Credit.
Friday 3/3: Blend in vs Stand out (camo or neon)
Monday: Blend in vs Stand out (camo or neon)
Tuesday: Groutfit Day (wear all gray)
Wednesday: Country vs Country Club
Thursday: Greece vs Grease
Friday: Charity Week Shirts & Blue-out
Monday 3/13: PJ Day
Raffle Baskets : Tickets will be on sale at lunches for $1, six for $5, 15 for $10. There are various donation baskets from clubs featuring food items, giftcards, and so much more! Drawings for baskets will be held Friday, March 10th after school.
T-shirt Sales: At lunch students can purchase Charity Week shirts for $15
During the week
Monday, March 6th:
Kick-off Assembly
This is a school-wide assembly that will run roughly 55 minutes, so classes will be adjusted slightly. Henry Ford Health Transplant Center for Living Donations is coming to speak to our students about the charity There will be a few games, but the majority of the assembly is to inform students about the charity and ways for students to participate.
Food Auctions: Student Council will auction off food for an entire class on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. These will be silent auctions. Classes will pool their money at the start of the hour and have one student bring it to the office. The class that donated the most money gets to go to the cafeteria to eat their prizes any time after the winner is announced that works with the teacher’s plans. No refunds.
Tuesday, March 7th :
Pancake Breakfast, 1st hour: Students can pre-buy a ticket to be excused from the 1st hour on Tuesday to go to the cafeteria for pancakes. Tickets will be sold during lunches. The cost is $8 for pancakes, and students will have the choice between regular and chocolate chip ($15 the day of if tickets are still available-- no tickets will be sold after 7:25 on Tuesday). Only 250 tickets will be sold. Students will be dismissed from 1st hour via PA and must still attend 1st hour for attendance. Students are still responsible for any work that will be missed.
Wednesday, March 8th:
Dodge Ball Tournament and Tailgate: Teams of 7 will face off in our annual Dodgeball tournament during 6th hour. Students will sign-up their team during lunch for $8/person. Students can also purchase tickets to watch the dodgeball tournament, and enjoy our tailgate with ice-cream for $10. Tickets must be purchased during lunch, no tickets will be sold after 4th hour on Wednesday. Students participating or attending must report to 6th hour for attendance and will be dismissed via PA. Only 250 tickets will be sold total (only 15 dodgeball teams allowed for tournament).
Thursday, March 9th:
Coin Stalls: Students bring in as much change as they can find! Teachers can decide what to have kids “stall” them from doing by making them count coins. In order for teachers to accept pennies, the class must pay a $5 fee. Roadblocks to slow the counting down will be sold during lunches and before school Thursday morning.
Friday, March 10th:
Duck Race: Students and teachers can buy a duck for $5 at lunch prior to Friday. They can decorate their duck and then return it to StuCo to be entered in the Rubber Duck River Race. We will live stream the race at 10:30AM on Friday with our Principals getting in the river to catch the winning duck. Watch to see if your duck wins! If they do, you will win a Bluetooth speaker.
Saturday, March 11th:

Attendance
Our students’ attendance matters to us. We want and expect them to be here as much as possible. We value their presence, and their academic success is dependent on it. Organized or coordinated absences from school are not endorsed by Rochester Community Schools, for example “Senior Skip Days”. Students who decide to take part in these events will be responsible for all missed work and assessments that occur on that day. Teachers will be continuing instruction as normal.
Student Pick up after school / Parking
As a reminder at the end of the school day, students must be picked up in the parent loop on the south end of the school off Tieken Road. If the student can not be picked up in the loop, please park in the Junior or senior lots by the auditorium or the pool. Please do not pick students up on the north end of school. The loop is reserved for buses and authorized vehicles with permits only.

Rochester Community Schools believes that an important foundation for successful teaching and learning includes the need to feel safe, valued, and respected. To that end, Stoney Creek High School will be participating in No Place for Hate®, a national program that supports schools in their commitment to honor diversity, promote respect for differences, challenge bias, and prevent bullying at all levels.
No Place for Hate was developed by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a leading anti-hate organization that has worked for more than a century to “secure justice and fair treatment to all.” No Place for Hate will help RCS incorporate valuable resources into existing programs to have one consistent message of inclusivity.

my school bucks
Rochester Community School operates its meal program using Point of Sale Computers (POS). Our computers are capable of tracking all pre-paid lunch sales. In addition, you may view a detailed account of what meals or snack your child has purchased and your account balance by creating an account on https://www.myschoolbucks.com . This is a free service for the convenience of our parents. If you child receives free or reduced price meals, rest assured they will not be identified in front of others.
If your student qualifies for free/reduced lunch, students are required to enroll yearly. You can apply by clicking here.

RAHCC looking for volunteers
The Rochester Auburn Hills Community Coalition (RAHCC) Youth Action Council is looking for middle and high school students to volunteer for community events all year long. Students will gain leadership skills, earn community service hours and help make a difference. The RAHCC supports mental health, builds awareness about substance misuse, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through programming in the schools and throughout the community. The Coalition also awards a scholarship to deserving students. If interested, please send an email with your name, grade (in the fall) and school to: Mrs. Schurman, Community Outreach Coordinator for Rochester Community Schools.
